Mundo Revés Grand Vin 2022

Mundo Reves wines are the first wines produced by Quentin and Thibault. The first vintage is a malbec 2009, of which we still have very few remaining bottles. At that time, grapes from La Consulta were bought, but step by step, grapes from higher vineyards started to be acquired. Currently, these two winemakers are producing a malbec from Paraje Altamira (1,100 masl). Since 2017, a Mundo Reves cabernet franc has been produced, also from Paraje Altamira. This is the wine from which this project, trip to Argentina and story started, ten years ago. They all age in French oak, at least partially, in order to get elegance and complexity.

Description

Description

Grape variety: 50% malbec/ 50% cabernet franc

Appellation: 100% Paraje Altamira (Cepillo). High density vineyard (7,000 plants/ha) and low yield in a soil with a high level of limestone located at 1,000 masl.

Harvest and winemaking: the malbec is harvested during the last week of March with a natural high acidity. The cabernet franc is also harvested early the first week of April so as not to lose its “varietal expression”. They ferment separately in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts and few extractions. The wine spends 15 months in French oak barrels (Boutes), out of which 50% are new.

Age of the vines: 20 years

Yield: 6 tons per ha

First vintage: 2019

About brand
Mundo Revés is an Argentine wine project founded by French winemakers Quentin Pommier and Thibault Lepoutre, who chose the Uco Valley in Mendoza as the home for their vision of terroir-driven, low-intervention wines. Drawing on their French winemaking background and international experience, they explore distinctive high-altitude vineyards in Chacayes, Paraje Altamira, Gualtallary and other exceptional terroirs. Their approach focuses on expressing the natural character of each site through minimal intervention and careful, attentive winemaking. Mundo Revés produces distinctive expressions of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Bonarda, Semillón, Criolla and other varieties, including limited cuvées made through unconventional techniques such as skin contact and special aging. The result is a portfolio that combines Argentine mountain terroir, freshness, texture and authenticity with a distinctly French sensibility.
